JAMES SUCKLING TOP 100 WORLD WINES 2025 | THE WORLD’S MOST TRUSTED SELECTION, NOW AT RED APRON
If you’ve ever wondered, “Among millions of wines around the world, which ones truly stand at the very top?”, the James Suckling Top 100 World Wines is the answer trusted for decades by professionals and wine lovers alike.
James Suckling is one of the most influential wine critics in the world. Formerly the Editor-in-Chief of Wine Spectator’s wine division, he brings over 40 years of experience tasting, evaluating, and following the world’s greatest winemakers. Each year, he and his team taste tens of thousands of wines across continents to select just 100 outstanding names, judged not only by scores, but by character, true quality, and emotional impact.
For this reason, being named in the James Suckling Top 100 is far more than an award. It is a prestigious passport into the global hall of wine excellence, where icons are celebrated, collected, and truly treasured.
In 2025, Red Apron is proud to present these exceptional wines from the prestigious list. Icons from Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy, Italy, and other legendary wine regions are now available at Red Apron:
#1 Château d'Issan, Margaux 2022 – 98 points
This is really luxurious, showing blackcurrants and orange peel with cedar and dried-mushroom aromas following through to a medium to full body that grows on the palate. This has crunchy and lightly chewy tannins that are slightly austere but in an elegant, classical Bordeaux way. Chewy at the end. So much energy and vibe. So complex. Probably the greatest wine ever from here. A blend of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 2% cabernet franc, 2% malbec and 1% petit verdot.

#8 Château Giscours, Margaux 2022 – 98 points
Stunning aromas of blackcurrants, dark mushrooms and black cherries with forest-floor notes. Full body that fills your mouth with fine, caressing tannins and dark, flavorful fruit. The tannins are very intense and structural, spreading across the palate in layers and giving intensity and energy. Plenty of energy and verve here. This has gravity, too. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 3% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc. Best after 2029.

#18 Château Suduiraut, Sauternes 2022 – 99 points
So many aromas of dried apricots, turmeric, pine nuts and botrytis. Full-bodied with 190 grams of sugar and incredible length and richness. The salted caramel, light nuts and dried fruit go on for minutes. 100% semillon. A great sweet wine. Drinkable already but will age for ages. Better in three or four years but already gorgeous.
