Red Apron Fine Wines & Spirits is honored to have in our port-folio 6 wines in the Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2022 by Wine Enthusiast.
About the Top 100 Cellar Selections: Each year, of the roughly 23,000 wines reviewed, only a portion (close to 4%) are designated Cellar Selections wines that, while currently delicious, would benefit from being forgotten for some time in a cool, dark place in your home. This elite grouping is further whittled down to the Top 100 Cellar Selections list, a veritable cheat sheet for the most cellar-worthy wines on the market.
So seek these beauties out, stash them in your cellar and reap the benefits of a delicious pour in the years to come!
#2 Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia, Sassicaia Bolgheri DOC 2019
Enticing aromas of blue flower, cassis, camphor and spice are front and center in this stunning red. The lithe, savory palate features black currant, red plum and star anise while tobacco notes linger on the long finish. Elegant, polished tannins and bright acidity keep it beautifully balanced and focused.
#7 Chateau Haut Brion, Pessac Leognan 1st Grand Cru Classe
The wine's richness give it the density for aging. The bold structure is mitigated by the wine's juicy acidity that cuts the structure with freshness. This grand wine has a solid character as well as plenty of juicy fruits.
#28 Domaine Louis Jadot, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019
Ripe and muscular in body, this powerful red reflects the luscious black-cherry and cassis flavors of an exceptionally ripe vintage, along with the cool edges and deeply mineral undertow of Clos Vougeot. Delicate and perfumed yet grounded and mouth drenching, the wine still needs time to develop.
#48 Masi, Costasera, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2016
Ripe black-skinned fruit, blue flower and baking spice aromas form the nose of this full-bodied red along with a whiff of cedar. Concentrated but possessing a weightless elegance, the smooth, enveloping palate delivers prune marinated in spirits, black cherry, licorice and cocoa framed in velvety tannins.
#64 Chateau Carbonnieux, Grand Cru Classe de Graves, Pessac Leognan 2019
The estate is noted for white wine, and this latest release lives up to the reputation. This textured, mainly Sauvignon Blanc wine has tight acidity set against wood aging and ripe citrus and white-fruit flavors.
#82 Quinta do Noval, Nacional, Single Quinta Nacional Vintage Port 2019
This iconic Port comes from a small parcel of ungrafted vines close to the house at Noval. This latest incarnation is wonderfully perfumed, with powerful, ageworthy tannins. It is dry and boldly structured, with a rich plum core that's bolstered by piercing acidity.
