 At the height of the 15th century European wine movement, a group of German artisans began cultivating what would come to be the most terroir-expressive varietal on the planet. Enamored with the fruits of their labor, wine enthusiasts traveled from far and wide to sample the newly christened, "Riesling". Of all of the German growing regions, though, only the Nahe is home to the elusive and incredibly fertile red slate soil. Red slate, evidence of the region's millennia of volcanic activity, imbues Riesling with a peerless wealth of minerality.
