GRAPES VARITETIES: Merlot
TASTING NOTES: Rich nose of plums, black truffles and licorice. Some exotic spices that I could not quite identify. I had always heard the palate on Le Pin is pure silk, but it’s more than that of course. It’s an interesting juxtaposition of density but lightness, layered but seamless, a full range of red to purple fruits, all wrapped up in the softest, most luxurious silk.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Red Meat | BBQ | Game | Stew | Bo Sot Vang | Bun Bo Nam Bo
BRAND NAME: Le Pin
Le Pin isn’t just a famous name in wine in the appellation Pomerol on the right bank of the Bordeaux area. It is considered a cult domaine and is highly sought after by wine collectors. Its minuscule production, which averages only 600 – 700 cases per year commands prices which are even higher than Château Petrus, making it one of the most expensive wines from Bordeaux!
