Clos du Val is a prestigious winery in the Stags' Leap district of California's Napa Valley. It was founded in 1972 by John and Henrietta Goelet together with Bernard Portet, a French couple and a graduate oenologist. With the dream of producing Cabernet Sauvignon wines that would rival the world’s best, the trio spent two years searching the world for the area that could fit their vision, and Stags Leap was chosen.

The winery was first recognized for its Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at the famed Judgment of Paris in 1976, establishing its place as one of Napa Valley’s most iconic winery estates.
