Saint-Émilion is an appellation in the Libournais district of Bordeaux. Alongside Pomerol, Saint-Émilion is the biggest name in Bordeaux's so-called "Right Bank" zone. It is important for both the quality and production volume of its red wines, which are almost always based on Merlot.
